We received the unexpected and sad news of the passing of Ing. José Luis Aprea, a national and international leader in the field of ISO/TC197 Hydrogen Safety Standards, and a contributor from the beginning with Dr. Juan Carlos Bolcich in the conception and design of the Pico Truncado Experimental Hydrogen Plant in Santa Cruz, along with several other members of the AAH (Argentine Hydrogen Association). He was Chief Technology Officer at PIAP (Heavy Water Industrial Plant – CNEA, Neuquén), a full professor of Chemical Engineering at UNComa, and an IAEA consultant. He was the director and founding father of the AAH Hydrogen journal ( https://www.aah2.org/revista-hidrogeno ), which published its latest issue last June. We shared with him various H2 meetings with our AEA and, until a few months ago, teaching in the Diploma in Hydrogen Technologies at UNRN/IUSUR (Uruguay). José Luis was co-author in 2020 with Dr. Bolcich of the work “The energy transition towards hydrogen utilization for green life and sustainable human development in Patagonia” which was published in IJHE, and describes their work at the H2 Plant in Pico Truncado:
