Embedded Systems at AEA
Embedded Systems (updated 08-2022)
At AEA (Alternative Energies Area) - UNPA, we have historically been working on the development of embedded systems, fundamentally focused on the measurements required in renewable energy equipment. Development work has included various types of systems: from the 8051 family (C2 - 1995), PC/104 (1999-2003), AVR and Cypress PSoC (2004 to present), TSLinux (2008-2012), ARM-Cortex M4 (2017 to today), and covers local development boards in some cases and commercial board integration in most cases. A number of systems were developed in cooperation with UMAG (Chile) and UTN-FRRo (Rosario), in which commercial dataloggers such as Campbell Scientific CR850, CR1000 and CR1000X have been integrated, and access via TLS to a remote server was implemented using Raspberry Pi4B boards.
The cooperation with CERE/UMAG (University of Magallanes) in Campbell Scientific Dataloggers started in 2012 and has continued in various project as described in:

Building on this experience, AEA has developed on similar systems (a CR1000 acquired in 2013 via a PICTO-CIN Project) and the joint developments with OES-UTN (FRRo) since 2019 are described in:
