Embedded Systems at AEA
Embedded Systems (updated 01-2025)
In the Alternative Energy Area - UNPA, we have historically worked on the development of embedded systems, focused primarily on the measurements required in renewable energy equipment. The development work has included various types of systems: from the 8051 family (C2 - 1995), PC/104 (1999-2003), AVR and Cypress PSoC (from 2004 to today), TSLinux (2008-2012), ARM-Cortex M4 (2017 to today), and covers in some cases local development boards and in most cases the integration of commercial boards. In systems developed in cooperation with UMAG (Chile) and UTN-FRRo (Rosario), commercial dataloggers such as the Campbell Scientific CR850, the CR1000 and CR1000X have been integrated, and access via TLS to a remote server was implemented using Raspberry Pi4B boards.
Cooperation with CERE/UMAG (Universidad de Magallanes) on the subject of Campbell Scientific Dataloggers dates back to 2012 and has continued in various projects as described in:

Based on this experience, the developments of AEA (CR1000 acquired in 2013 via the PICTO-CIN Project) and those developed jointly with OES-UTN (FRRo) since 2019 are reflected in:

Recently added were experiences with the ESP family of Espressif, regarding the Web link of traditional embedded systems, best practices for their coding and extensions using NodeRed under RBPi4B.
