Carlos Luna Pont - 25 years anniversary

On May 29th we remember the 25th anniversary of the passing of our former director, Carlos Luna Pont. He was an inspiration to the AEA Group, and he always emphasized the importance of combining research with the technological aspects of energy. Today, more than ever, we are delighted by the fabulous growth of renewable energy sources in Argentina and around the world for electricity generation (See IEA 2025 report chart - https://www.iea.org/data-and-statistics/charts/global-electricity-generation-by-source-2014-2027 ). However, the charts on global primary energy consumption (Energy Institute 2025: https://www.energyinst.org/statistical-review ) show us how much further we still have to go. Here is another photo of Carlos, taken shortly before his passing, presiding over the International Workshop on isolated electrical systems here in Río Gallegos.
