Last May 11th the initiative “Energy studies and diagnostic – Phase I” (“Estudio Diagnóstico e identificación de Proyectos Energéticos-Etapa I”) for the local Energy Institute (Instituto de Energía de Santa Cruz -IESC) was signed through contract EX-2022-00141660- -CFI-GES#DC between CFI (Consejo Federal de inversiones – Federal Investment Council) and the UVT (Unidad de Vinculación Tecnológica) from UNPA. The Project will be developed in a period of 6 months by a technical team led by Mg. Ing. Rafael Oliva and a coordination group from AEA. This study is part of an Energy Plan Initiative involving both renewable and conventional energy sources. The province of Santa Cruz has a great potential to become an energy exporter and simultaneously enhance its local industry and living conditions. The Project involves a technical aspect with existing data evaluation and energy balance studies, and also meetings with qualified stakeholders in local communities to assess proposals and required changes. The team of 21+ consultants includes specialists from AEA, UNPA, the local UTN-FRSC, other National Universities and private groups, and includes the neighbour UMAG University (in Chile), who developed a similar study in 2015 for their Magallanes Region.
