Since January 2023 at AEA an Energy Diagnostics Project proposal for IESC - Instituto de Energía de Santa Cruz (Lic. Matías Kalmus, Director, and Lorena Leonett) has been elaborated with cooperation from CFI (Consejo Federal de Inversiones) and the UVT-UNPA, as a first step for an integral Energy Plan for Santa Cruz including renewable and non-renewable resources. Our province of Santa Cruz has a great potential to supply and export energy resources, and simultaneously boost its own development and living standards. The proposal spans analysis of available data, but also a number of meetings and visits to cities and community participation to find problems and propose alternative solutions. The proposed team of consultants includes mostly engineering professionals from the four Academic Units of UNPA, from UTN-FRSC, and from other Universities, including CERE - UMAG (Chile), authors of a similar study for the nearby region of Magallanes for the CNE in 2014-2015, in which our director Rafael Oliva briefly cooperated. After a number of iterations, the proposal seems to be complete and include diverse knowledge areas in energy sources, local participation and vastly experienced consultants including Dr. Gautam Dutt (MGM), former external director in UNPA projects, and collective Nobel laureate through IPCC in 2007. Currently the proposal is in evaluation by local and CFI authorities. A recent version of the proposal (in spanish) is included here.
